How to merge and split PDF files for free
Merging and splitting PDFs are two of the most common document tasks, whether you are combining scans into one file or extracting a few pages to send. Here is how it works and how to do it without uploading your documents.
Merging PDFs the right way
To combine files, add two or more PDFs and arrange them in the order you want before merging. The pages are copied exactly as they are, so text stays selectable and images are not re-compressed — the result is the same quality as the originals. Doing it in the browser means sensitive documents never leave your device.
Splitting and extracting pages
To pull out specific pages, enter a range such as 2-5, 8 to save just those pages as a new PDF. To break a document into separate files, split every page into its own PDF. This is handy for sharing one section of a report or separating a scanned batch.
Reorder, rotate and remove pages
Beyond merge and split, you can reorder pages by dragging, rotate sideways scans upright, and delete pages you do not need before saving. For password-protected files, remove the password in your PDF viewer first, since encrypted PDFs cannot be edited until they are unlocked.
